The Student's View

Training Programmes in Action

The UK pedagogical partner in the project is The College of West Anglia. They are based within a very rural setting, with limited access in many areas to educational provision. Their target group for the project is women at home, so in the second pilot they took their "Interior Design" training into schools in the area.

The participants on the course had the opportunity to get a nationally recognised qualification in Interior Design at the end of the course. For some students this was an amazing opportunity which, without the Fellows project, could never have happened.

Here are the reflections of Jenny, a student on the course.

"My daughter studies at Swaffham 6th form, and, as she is disabled, I am tied to taking her in to school in the morning and collecting her in the afternoon. This means that I do not get the time to leave Swaffham to attend a course in King's Lynn and pick up my daughter. This project has given me the chance to learn in a way that suits me.... I was initially worried about part of the course being on computers as I am not an expert! Fortunately the materials were easy to use and I even managed to log on at home!... I would certainly be interested in more courses like this."

Jenny successfully achieved the Interior Design qualification.
